GOD: PART I
In the beginning
God spoke the world into life
From chaos and void
God declared all good,
Woman, His final flourish,
His love gift for Man
Temptation indulged,
God’s one command disobeyed,
Guilt, shame, rejection
Man tries to ignore
The sovereignty of God,
Living for himself
Man’s hardening heart,
No longer thinks about God
But looks out for Self
The norm soon becomes
Pride, self-will and rejection
Hate, fear and strife
Shame, fear, sickness, death
Overwhelms and overcomes;
Alone, despairing
Man cries out to God
“How long will you forget me?”
God responds with Christ
Jesus comes to Earth
Born to save and rescue us
Forgives and restores
Our crucified Christ
Paid for the sins of the world;
Perfect sinless Son
Resurrected and raised
To be in heaven with God
For eternity
The future looks bright
Our resurrected Christ Jesus
Brings eternal hope
Restored, forgiven
Our submitted hearts, minds, wills,
and spirits redeemed
Without fear and shame
We are freed to worship him
In grace, love and peace
Adored and blessed,
Desired Bride, perfectly loved
By her Bridegroom King,
No longer alone
We lean on Him and trust in
His guidance and strength
The future looks bright
Eternal hope found in Christ
He calls His Bride home
Eden is restored
Creation renewed, redeemed
Man at peace with God.
Yet still we struggle
With fears, sickness, pains and death;
He anchors our souls
GOD: PART II
Coronavirus,
Pandemic changes our world
Nothing feels the same
A cough brings great fears:
Is this coronavirus?
Will this end in death?
In the midst of fears
Our human spirits rise up
in community
What is life about?
Street preachers tell out good news
‘God has not left us!!”
We turn to our God
Echoing the cry of old
“Act with mercy, Lord!”
His people tested,
Yet stand firm on His Promise,
Earnestly praying
Come, Lord Jesus, come
Act now with mercy and grace
Reveal Your glory!
To whom shall I go?
Where may I shine your Christ-Light?
Who needs Your mercy?
Here we are, dear Lord
Send us out into the dark,
to the hurting world
