Hope entered our world

God Incarnate revealed in

humble surroundings.

Following the star

three wise men come from afar

to see the baby.

~

The wise men bring gifts

to honour the baby – gold,

frankincense and myrrh.

~

Shepherds in their fields

hear the good news of great joy

from herald angels.

~

Shepherds and their flocks

give homage to the new King

with joy and gladness.

~

The wise men return

by a different route home,

avoiding Herod.

~

Herod’s plans thwarted,

he rages, “Kill Bethlehem’s

boys,two or younger!”

~

Mary and Joseph

are warned by an angel, “Leave

Bethlehem at once!”

~

They flee to Egypt

to avoid Herod’s death threats

and to find refuge.

~

A time of safety,

the family settles in

to life in Egypt.

~

An angel of God

announced the news: “Herod’s dead,

time to go back home.”

~

Israel their goal,

they settle in Nazareth

and rebuild their lives.

~

Prophecy fulfilled

Jesus the Nazarene lives

a regular life …

~

…until the time comes

for God to reveal His Son

to a waiting world.

Glory be to God

peace to His people on earth

on whom favour rests.
